Hi guys! @christiana and I are planning on doing a Bible Study Group together online and were wondering if anyone else would like to join us? The plan so far is to work through a Bible Study guide called “When Chronic Illness Enters Your Life”, and then meet up once a week to have a chat to discuss it.
    .
I know I have found it difficult being sick and not having the support of Christian friends or being able to be part of a church. One of the things I have loved about Healkick is meeting people who shared my faith and who could understand the challenges of being sick, so I’m really excited about Christiana’s idea of doing a Bible Study and I really hope some of you will be interested in doing it too!
    .
If you would be interested please let us know what day would suit you best to meet up & we’ll do our best to try and find a time that suits most people.
    .
This is the link for the Bible Study Guide on Amazon.com http://www.amazon.com/When-Cronic-Illness-Enters-Your/dp/0971660018/ref=sr_1_1?s=books&ie=UTF8&qid=1325596080&sr=1-1 if you want to have a look.

PS. We’re not 100% sure of the logistics yet but we were thinking of using tinychat unless anyone has another idea of a good place to chat?

  • Profile Picture Image said 1 year, 4 months ago ago:

Right now we’ve created a tinychat to use.
    .
We were thinking about doing it at 2pm EST: 11 PST, 1 CST, 9 am Alaska. This would be 7 pm for Miriam in Ireland.

@missmilki and @christiana – this is a great idea. Count me in. As for the chat time, I am lucky to be able to work, so mornings/afternoons during the week would be out for me. Thank you for the great idea!

I’d like to join, but I won’t have my work schedule for this term until the end of this week or next. I usually only work a couple hours a day (in afternoons or evenings), but my luck that would be the same couple of hours as the study, haha.

Oh, I just noticed the author of the book is Lisa Copen. Cool! I get her email newsletters and I’ve been published in her magazine, HopeKeepers.

@sparrow Thats really cool! I sometimes read her website, she writes some really encouraging articles at times & ones with great common sense!

Because of the differing availabilities during the week I think we’ll have to shoot for weekends, maybe every other?
    .
Are Sundays booked for you guys?

  • Profile Picture Image kellyckendall said 1 year, 4 months ago ago:

@christiana – Sundays tend to be good for me. I go to church on Saturday morning. Sunday morning, or Sunday nights, would be best for me.

  • Profile Picture Image said 1 year, 4 months ago ago:

Sundays work for me as well because I’m not able to go to church but some may be able to.
    .
We have to stick with mornings and afternoons since Miriam is in Ireland, 5 hours ahead of my EST.
    .
Just let us know how yalls’ sundays usually go, maybe we could do it after church services.

I would like to join you all. Sunday would be fine for me. Mornings are the worst time of day for me (I usually try to to sleep through them) but I might be able to do late morning.

I interpret at church on Sundays and the service goes until 12:30 and then usually people want to talk. I’m usually home by 1:30 Pacific time, so that would be 9:30 PM in Ireland? Would that work? I’d probably miss some Sundays if my family wanted to do something afterwards, but should be able to get to most of the studies.

I totally wish I could just pick Ireland up & move it a little west once a week! ;)

  • Profile Picture Image missmilki said 1 year, 4 months ago ago:

9.30pm is a little past my usual bedtime and I get a bit slow at that time of night so if there was another time that worked for people I’d prefer it, but if there isn’t an alternative then I’ll manage it.

Just to check all the options – How are people fixed on Saturdays?

@Rachel So glad you want to join us. We’ll try to avoid any time too early! What TimeZone are you in?

  • Profile Picture Image sparrow said 1 year, 4 months ago ago:

Saturdays are usually free for me. Like Rachel, I have trouble with mornings, but we could move it a little earlier if it’s a Saturday. Or maybe better (since Sat is one of my sleep half the day type days) would be to have it earlier on Sunday and I’d just miss the first little bit sometimes? I don’t know… what do you all think?
    .
Also wanted to say that I’m excited how big of a response there is for this! :-)
