Illness Advocacy, Awareness, Projects, etc 19 hours, 12 minutes agoOn Sunday there is a big Lyme Disease rally happening in DC. Taking 2 minutes to vote that CNN should cover the event (giving more press to this horrible illness) might really help! Here’s the post with all the info in it on how to vote and what the event is all about!

Health is so wasted on the healthy…
-
what’s sad is they don’t know just how true this is/the value of their health
-
yeah, I think @callieandtoby is right. The only way you can know is if you lose it. I was think of the quote about ”youth is wasted on the young” when I wrote this.
-
-
Yes, for most people. Makes me quite angry. But you don’t really know what you’ve lost until you lose it. I’ve been watching ”locked abroad” and most of them say ”wow I took everything for granted, now my life is completely different, I appreciate the wind and the sun and being able to take walks”.
-
Severe ME is very similar to being locked up, I think.
-
-
So true….and so annoying.
-
grrrr.
-
-
Right? If I ever get healthy again, watch the fuck out, World.
-
Absolutely!

I hate it when people write ”depression” on my chart. It makes me feel like they’re not taking me seriously. And I’m pretty sure it ensures that no one else will either. Meh.
-
That drives me crazy too. It somehow invalidates the real source of our illness. It drives me nuts when docs ask why I am crying. I want to trade places with them for 2 months and watch them sob as they can’t get out of bed, go to work or do any of the things they love. I guarantee they would be bawling and then we could write depression on…[Read more]
-
oh, no! If it makes you feel any better, I can’t cry in front of them (but I also can’t stop myself from get argumentative) and they still write it. I’ve always wanted to have one of them get accidentally committed… >:D
-
-
I hate it when the write Adjustment Disorder, like this is a normal life change such as marriage or divorce or grief, and I’m not adjusting properly. And they’re like, ”oh all sick people have adjustment disorder”. NOT TRUE, dumb ass!
-
the hell? knock-on-wood, I haven’t had that one yet. I will admit that living at home at my age and not being able to do hardly anything is depressing. But, if it weren’t I’d either be very lazy or very stupid.
-
-
I always suspected that part of the reason I always got depression in my chart was because when I transferred records, they saw the previous doctor wrote it and it influenced them. Sure enough, one doctor just wrote that she agreed with the previous doctor that my symptoms were psychiatric. No mention of psych issues the first couple of visits,…[Read more]

I’ve been watching too much TV… but it would be really cool if you could get like a voice modification device and make your voice sound male. You could be like a faux husband advocating for yourself…. of […]

I can’t help. Just wanted to commiserate with you. I need one too. I cannot keep up with the health, disability, and insurance stuff to get the help that I need.
I’ve also thought of a patient advocate, […]

Utterly depressed, dejected, and deflated after I watched a Ted Talk about how “30 is not the new 20.” Apparently, the 20′s are the most important and formative decade of your life. The rest of your entire life (career, relationships, happiness, finances) is based on what happens in your 20′s.
Why the f*ck did I listen to that. Oh yea,…[Read more]

Thanks for telling me that I will not have a career/be successful due to my shitty resume in my 20’s.
-
Sounds like a bunch of crap to me.
-
Wow, that’s BS. I just watched a commercial about how these people were inventing things and becoming world class chefs and running marathons in their 40’s. I’ve been sick since I was 18 so I don’t have any resume. But if and when I get well, I will not be held back by what some random person says!
-
People suck. You are most welcome.
-
Great use of the word defenestrate!
That talk sounds like a load of rubbish! -
Totally not true. Sometimes people get high and mighty on their particular theory/thesis/opinion and present it as truth when it is really a bunch of misconstrued, biased BS. I know plenty of people who had a rough time in their 20s and are doing quite well later in life.
-
Thanks everyone. Was in a bad mood and needed the reassurance
Y’all are are awesome!

While out on the Pier 2 days ago, I saw three barn swallows playing a game with a feather over the water. Truly amazing. One would drop it, and another would swoop in and pick it up and repeat the process.

HEY, I knitted those beautiful pieces of work! Are you saying there is something not fashionably stunning about them??
HAHA. Actually those two on the right remind me of blankets that my great-greadma used to knit. They were perfect for watching Saturday morning cartoons all wrapped up in.
I had that blanket too! Idk, man, those are some awesome stockings.
Have you guys heard of Yarn Bombing? http://www.demilked.com/yarn-bombing/ Just thinking about it makes me exhausted, but some of them are spectacular.
ha ha ha, man that took a lot of work! I have seen the bikes that are done – pretty cool.
Oh Lord have mercy!
The guy on the right. BETTER WERK.
