I actually logged in! Sorry for being so terribly MIA the past few months. Balancing college and treatment is harder than I expected it to be. But overall I am (slowly) improving health-wise and doing well in classes so I can’t complain too much about that. I miss coming to chat and movie nights but sleep ends up taking priority. How is everyone?…[Read more]

    • You missed a makeover and lots of new members! But we all miss you Rach. Don’t ever feel like you can’t drop in here whenever without rationalizing why you’ve been gone. Once part of the Kick family, always! That’s what I tell myself when I have to be MIA for weeks :) @carilea only beats me with a stick for my absence but small price to…[Read more]

    • Hey Rachael, nice to see you. Certainly understand not being able to log on. Glad to hear you are improving though. :)

    • Hey girl, have missed you but totally understand. Drop in when you can, but taking care of you is top priority. :)

    • Hi Rachel! Its so good to hear from you & hear that you’re doing well. Don’t worry about not being here in a while, you have to make rest & college your priority for the moment, we totally understand that! So glad your health is still improving even if it is more gradual & that college is going well! Welcome back! ;)

@carilea and @emilyc mentioned that illness is like college.. Did any other Lymies know that there is a legit Lyme Academy of Fine Arts College? (http://www.lymeacademy.edu/) I’m trying to get a T-shirt but they don’t have an online store…

    • I was so confused… I was like ”there’s a school for people with lyme? what?” don’t worry we got it all sorted out now :)

I’m pretty confident most of the issue is within my room. The cleaning chemicals certainly don’t help but they only use those in the bathroom down the hall. I don’t think it’s any of the stuff that I brought with, I bought next to nothing to bring, just packed everything up from my room. But I was having a HORRIBLE day on Monday and tested the…[Read more]

Hahaha this is the list, which basically means EVERYTHING has corn in it if it’s made inside a factory or comes in a wrapper. I have yet to find a medication or OTC pill that doesn’t have corn.

Wow, apparently I have pretty severe Multiple Chemical Sensitivities! My dorm is attempting to poison me but now that I unraveled everything I’m fighting back. Anyone have tips? I already live chemical/fragrance free. I’m leaving my window open 24/7, getting an air filter, and putting out activated charcoal.

    • Oh, no! you really have no control over what they use to clean the bathroom or what toiletries your floormates use. Do you think it’s your room itself or the people and chemicals going on in the dorm? You could get some weather stripping stuff to insulate your doorjam and the space under the door. Is your dorm a new building with new furniture?…[Read more]

    • I’m so sorry you’re having more struggles! If there is anything in your room that has a “chemical” smell I would get rid of it. Corn is everywhere!! @MacGyver the issue was that the active ingredient (sodium ascorbate I believe) was sourced from corn. They don’t have to declare that @missmilki just like they don’t have to say where the citric acid comes from in other foods. • @rachann I dated a vegan that had a book listing all the common ingredients sourced from animal products. Is there a list like that somewhere for corn? or do you just have to tough it out?
        Hope you’re feeling better!

    • Ahhh, my niece used to be that allergic to corn. So sorry things are messed up right in the middle of school, too.
